MacBook Froze While Choosing User (Main + Guest) – Now Locked and iCloud Device Gone"

Help Needed – Total Chaos

MacBook Pro Early 2013. Here’s the situation: I always had only one user account. One day, I turned on the computer and, out of nowhere, a guest account appeared on the side. The computer froze and wasn’t responding to the touchpad, so I held the power button to turn it off. When I turned it back on, it showed this lock screen, and now my password doesn’t work anymore.

The weirdest part? This MacBook has disappeared from my iCloud devices...

How can I fix this? Is it possible to extract all the files from the computer somehow?

oh, sure, you will just restore them from the local, disk-based backup Apple has been urging you to keep up to date. Apple even provided the free built-in Time Machine backup system.

You DID make a backup of your files, didn't you?

if not, some might be salvageable, or maybe not.

What MacOS were you running?

The original 10.8.2 Lion must have been upgraded at least some, and the newest that could be run appears to be 10.15 Catalina
