Can I recover old iMessages after being offline for 6 weeks?

I was offline for 6weeks and I turned on my phone today and I couldn’t receive any iMessage whereas a lot of people have reached out to me. I don’t know what to do to recover the messages

I have read that iMessage will try to deliver a message up until 24h, or 30 days, depending on who you ask, so no reliable source there, then apple will simply discard it as it’s sitting on their servers going nowhere, so, if you know who’s been trying to contact you, it would be best to kindly ask them if they could resend anything in question.
