If I have the Icloud storage do I need total drive?

I am new to all this cloud storage etc I got my first IPhone and I have the regular cloud storage i also have something called total drive that is adding charges and I do not really know what that is. I do not use my phone like most folks and I do have some photos I want to keep but aside from that I just want what I have on my phone saved I am not saving a bunch of stuff likely not even more that the phone can save

edit: ok $1 so practically free

Oops, you're right, of course. (Well, not the dumb part!) I got a little free with my 0s. Per Apple:

iCloud keeps your information safe, automatically backed up, and available anywhere you go — with 5GB of storage for free. iCloud+ plans and pricing - Apple Support

5GB is a few hundred pictures.

So, total drive is a third party service not by any means related to apple. If you “need it” I unfortunately cannot tell as I do not have any information about how you use it. If you now have an iPhone, it will most likely not save your photos to total drive by default, so if you have an iCloud subscription and have saved your photos from total drive there, you will probably be fine, but again, I don’t know about your specific situation.

You ask yourself, "How would I feel if I dropped my phone, and a truck ran over it, and I lost all that's on it?" If the answer is "Sad," then you ought to have your stuff in an extra place, and iCloud gives you 50GB for free, so that seems easy.

If you answer "Devastated," then that probably means you have more stuff, so you need more than 50 GB. And it means that you need your stuff in two extra places-- iCloud is automatic and you never have to think about it, so that can be one. And then you should also have your stuff saved on an external drive.

If your answer is "I'd jump off a building," then you need lots of extra storage, and that might include other cloud storage like maybe "total storage" is.

What's your answer?
