Opened existing song. Most audio tracks now 1 step higher! Super strange. How to restore to original pitch?
Hey. Really freaky problem popped up today.
Opened up a song I had finished in the last week or so. Wanted to check the output level. For some reason, the lead vocal was a full step sharp.
On further examination, other audio tracks were sharp, too, but *not all of them.*
My impression is that the tracks have been sped up because longer segments slip progressively earlier in time as they go on. And they sound very altered. Chipmunk-ey. But most of the segments are comped vocals, so the time slip isn't apparent in those.
I originally suspected a glitch in the Flex feature. But some of the other altered tracks didn't have flex on them. One was even an Apple loop percussion file.
Trying to fix the problem, I changed the Flex setting on the vocal track from pitch to speed. That worked.
Problem is, the track has also been cut inside the comp. There are segments that have been moved in time, like a quarter note. As far as I know, there's no way to move a clip inside a comp. So I can't get that back the way it should be.
FYI, I have finished two other songs since this one. They're both working fine.
Nothing has been done to this file since the final mix, before opening it today.
I have restarted the computer multiple times.
Not sure if it's related, but I've had quite a few app freezes today, requiring a force quit and restart. And if I'm in a comped section of the damaged track and try to edit the comp, that will pretty consistently freeze the app.
Bottom line, I want to restore the altered audio tracks.
Any and all suggestions much appreciated.
Thanks!
David
