How can I prevent my Apple Watch band from jamming the release button?

My watch band deactivated the watch band release button. How do I insure this doesn’t happen again

That sounds like a hardware problem, so the best bet (if available where you are) is to make an appointment for a hardware issue at an Apple-owned store.


Your visit is free, but they are crazy-busy, so an appointment is required.


The technicians there put their hands on these devices all day every day, and they have "seen it all".

The release button is a physical spring loaded button, it cannot be de-activated.


Do you mean it got stuck? It would not release the band anymore?


Not much to do, if a button get's stuck. Just move the band and see if it unsticks.

Then make sure you clean the slot, and the button with Isopropyl Alcohol and a soft cloth. Gently remove any skin or other debris and make sure it can depress freely.
