ITunes loading purchases for hours.

On a new IMac, 2020 model with up to date OS when attempting to start apple music app we get the spinning wheel and a note saying Loading iTunes Purchases. This has been running for 20 hours now. How can i get it to stop, or what is the ptoblem?
