mail in iOS no lomger displayse rbe number of inreas emails

If I’m not mistaken or my

memory is not failing

me, I’d swear that Mail formerly displayed a number representing the number of unread emails.

Now there is no number but when I open the inbox, I find dozens of unread emails.

Am I, like AI, hallucinating?
