How to restore Crunchyroll and melon playground apps on iPad with Family Sharing

So I wanted to put a screen restriction on my sons iPad and honestly I wish I never bothered.

His two favourite apps have now disappeared and are faded in the App Store so he can’t download them again. The apps are Crunchyroll and melon playground.

I have stopped screen time and shared apps, subscriptions and anything else I can do. I have literally set apps to 17+ and allowed explicit on everything and I still cannot get the apps back.

My son is autistic so this is extremely upsetting for him and I’m very stressed! He just wants his two apps back but I have no idea how. Please help!

Sometimes trying to set limits ends up locking things down more than expected. What’s likely happening is that even though you’ve turned Screen Time off and adjusted content settings, there might still be some leftover restrictions tied to Family Sharing or purchase approvals.

When an app appears faded in the App Store and won’t download, it usually means either the age rating is still blocked somewhere or Ask to Buy is still active and hasn’t cleared properly. Since you’ve already bumped the content rating to 17+ and allowed explicit content, the next thing to check is if your child’s Apple ID still requires approval for app downloads, even if Screen Time is off.
