Never seen before. What to do? nl.syncfactory.HedgeHelper.Mac.plist

Ran EtreCheckPro today and found this new, mystery entry under Launch Daemons:

nl.syncfactory.HedgeHelper.Mac.plist

I've never seen it before. However, a search through old EtreCheckPro reports shows it appeared late April or early May in 2024.

Went to its website, and it wants to sell me cloud services. Not sure where this came from.

Should I remove it? And what is the best method to do so?

TIA!

Thanks. That makes sense. It looks like that product evolved over recent years and included several name changes, which can complicate tracking down all its components:

Ideally, you could research that product for uninstallation instructions to be sure all its components are removed. That particular Launch Daemon invokes the executable, without which it will remain inert and just occupy space. This assumes no other components invoke it, which is the reason the best method you're seeking is to research its documentation and / or contact its developer.

I understand you found a Launch Daemon, specifically a product from "The Sync Factory" that you installed a little less than a year ago, but you are not sure where it came from and presumably have no recollection of ever having installed it. Is that correct?

If so I suggest a review of your computing hygiene is justified. If you were to drag that file to the Trash it is likely to result in unexpected effects that may become evident at any time in the future.

The file in question invokes an executable found in the specified location that cannot be installed without your consent, or the consent of another authorized user of that Mac. That fact raises a concern of what other products or services may have been installed without your consent.
