Apple Watch Series 10 only has medium to large band

Currently, you can only buy a series 10 Watch with a medium to large band. I wanted to take advantage of prime day and get the watch cheaper, but I wear small medium band. Can you purchase the medium to large band and then put a smaller (small to medium) banned in place of the larger one?
