My Apple Watch is not counting steps on walking pad

I've tried both methods - side pocket, in a band or sock at my ankle - when using my walker or pushing a shopping cart. The methods capture steps but please understand, WhitBeck93, that your other readings will be skewed because the lights at the back of the watch will not be able to connect to skin. Bottom line, it depends on your priorities.

Some people have reported success for activities in which their arms don't move with putting the watch in a pocket or getting a special band to wear it on their ankle.

I have never tried either of these personally.

Sorry, but the Apple Watch needs the free movement of your watch arm to calculate the steps taken and calories burnt.

Yes, it's me. For health reasons, most of my daily exercise is done on recumbents or while using a walker. My doctors want to see steps, not exercise rings so I've learned the tricks to capture them. Where there's a will, there's a way!
