iPhone 16 Pro WiFi Issue Turning On And Off Every Few Seconds - Workaround

My iPhone 16 Pro (iOS 18.5) WiFi has been turning on and off every seconds. I can temporarily fix by restarting the iPhone but the issue reappears when I restart my Wireless Access Points (2 x Netgear WAX210 firmware v1.1.0.25). I have tried various actions (disable auto time zone, reset network settings, remove Proton VPN, set WiFi to static channels, reset password) but no success until I changed the WAP setting from WPA2/WPA3 Personal to WPA2 Personal which has resolved the issue. I also set to WPA3 Personal to confirm that was the culprit and the issue came back. I have multiple other devices (Macbook/iPad/Samsung Tablet etc) which work fine with WPA3 but the iPhone was the only one experiencing this issue. I will re-test after Netgear or Apple release further updates to firmware/iOS. This post is more to help anyone else having the same issue rather than a question as I have a workaround.

Report this Bug and its Fix to Apple:

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue and its fix.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of this, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update, and include the fix. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

I’ve been dealing with a similar Wi-Fi issue on my iPhone 16 Pro, and it’s been driving me nuts. Good call on testing the WPA2/WPA3 settings—switching to WPA2 Personal worked for me too after reading your post. It’s weird that only the iPhone seems to struggle with WPA3 while my other devices are fine. I’m also gonna keep an eye out for any iOS or Netgear updates. Appreciate the workaround, super helpful!
