unable to record voice over in fpc using usb microphone

I used to be able to use FCP to record voice over when editing my video. However I have not used for some times and removed my external microphone. I am now reconnecting my microphone and i am unable to record voice over when editing my video. Search solutions online but is still unable to fix.

Can you be more specific? What does "table to record" mean? Does FCP see the microphone? Does macOS see the microphone? Or are you having the bug posted about several times here where the audio file disappears after you stop the recording?
