Number and email showing separately in iMessage after eSIM removal

basically i used an esim when i went overseas for a bit, and now that i'm back home (and put in my actual sim + deleted the esim) i've suddenly been turned into a contact on my phone? for example when i text in a groupchat on my phone it'll show it as coming from a contact when i view the conversation on my mac (it shows my apple id photo and the contact name is set as my number) instead of myself, and vice versa. texts that i've sent from my phone one on one after i've switched back to my regular sim don't show up on my laptop either.
