2020 MacBook Pro Logic Board Quit

I know there are a ton of people having this same issue with the 2020 MacBook Pros! $600 to fix a (very clear)

manufacturer defect is absolutely not the right thing to do. My logic board went out last October after the OS update and I have been waiting for a repair program and nothing but crickets from Apple! When is Apple going to choose to acknowledge this issue?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

How is this "...a (very clear) manufacturer defect..."?

Hardware fails. When hardware fails you need to pay for a repair or not, your choice.

<< This is a legit question for the Apple professionals that monitor these forums. >>

So sorry, that is NOT how the Apple User-to-User Support Communities works.

Posting here does not generate a ticket.

The people who are answering your questions here are NOT Apple employees. They are other Users, who Volunteer their time and energy to help you in whatever way they can. Apple provides the forum software and a place to hold the discussion.

Most Apple employees are prohibited from posting here. Movers and Shakers do not look through user complaints of issues, because they have much better methods for collecting well-documented failure data.

If you want Apple employees to see and possibly forward your complaint, you would need to post here:

Product Feedback - Apple

You can classify you writing as a Feature request, Bug report, Performance issue, Hardware/Software compatibility issue, or Other issue.

if you want Apple employee assistance in solving a technical issue, that is generally done through product support. they can (and do) generate trackable Tickets, or can add your well-formed symptoms report to an existing ticket.

You already have a Genius Bar diagnosis. When your failed board is sent back after a failure, it will indeed be analyzed for failure reasons. When there are too many failures, Apple does an extensive analysis to find out WHY. The returned failed boards are what gets analyzed, generally not written reports.

What you are referring to as 'a large number' of complaints, compared to the SCALE of the huge number of Macs in existence, is a number so small it can barely be measured.

Apple sells about 20 Million Macs in a year, many of which are MacBook Pro models. That is a shipping rate of about 57,000 Macs a DAY.

A few reports (or even a few Hundred reports) of an issue --even if for EXACTLY the same cause (which is doubtful) does not move the overall reliability numbers in the slightest.

Apple is writing the truth when they say in some of their Actual recall documents, "a very small number of systems are impacted".

--------

Yours is NOT likely to be a pervasive issue that impacts a large number of Macs.

You have likely experienced a random failure, and it is likely due to Bad Luck.

Save your receipt for the repair costs. If Apple ever DOES issue a recall for your exact issue, they will reimburse the documented cost of your repair.

There is a reason Apple creates and submits engineering tickets. Once they see a pattern the engineers can then push that data through to let the higher ups know that something needs to be done. This is why the repair programs exist in the first place. A logic board doesn’t quit durning a software update for no reason. The tech I spoke with at the Apple Store agreed as well. I didn’t post this for ego tech trolls to flex. This is a legit question for the Apple professionals that monitor these forums.

I am not trying to generate ticket. Clearly what I’m writing isn't being read as such. There are apple professionals who monitor these forums! And tickets are created by speaking with senior support.

if you don’t have helpful suggestions please don’t respond. There are plenty of places for trolls to play.

I'm aware of the process. I dont need people trying to out me in my place!

Apple "professionals" other than community moderators do not "monitor" these communities. If you have a technical issue you want to relay to Apple contact Apple Support. Link is located at the bottom left of this page.

No one is "trolling" you here. Good advice was provided.
