You can
- Synchronize with iCloud using iCloud Photos. This, unfortunately, also copies all your mistakes, so it's not a true backup. However, if you then copy your pictures from iCloud.com to a computer drive, then you'll have a true backup. Having both iCloud and a computer copy is the best you can do.
- Backup to iCloud iPhone Backup at Settings>Apple ID>iCloud>iCloud Backup.-- this backs up your phone, but it doesn't include Photos if that is already copied to iCloud Photos. Recovering picture from here requires you to completely erase your phone before restoring the backup.
- Backup to your computer
- Backup to an external drive plugged into your phone.

Frankly, backing up to an external drive is the best thing, but it will take a long time. You plug in a drive, make sure it shows up in the Files App, and then use Share>Save to Files and navigate to the drive. I would copy fewer than 1000 at a time.
