Siri takes me to a random location instead of “home”

Unlike some others with similar (but not the same) problem, Siri is not taking me to an old address or really any address. This started about a month or so ago. I’ll ask “Siri, directions home”, and sometimes she gets it right but it seems more and more she takes me to a location on the same street but several miles South of home. Recently, she now sometimes sends me to my street, but several miles North of home.

Looking at the location she assigns when this happens, it appears that instead of taking me to my house number (or any house number) it looks like she’s just taking me to my street. In other words instead of house number 123, 35th Ave, she’s taking me to just “35th ave”.

I’ve tried to delete and re-identify my home address. It’s like she is ignoring the house number. I’ve run out of ideas to try.

Siri is losing precision with your Home address, like she knows the street but forgets the exact spot. When you say “Home,” she’s defaulting to a general location on your street instead of the actual address you set.

Siri pulls “Home” from your contact card, not just Maps or recent locations. So it’s worth double-checking that your personal contact card (in Contacts) has the correct full address: house number, street, city, etc., and that it’s actually set as “My Card” in your contacts.

After that, give Siri a fresh start: close Maps completely, maybe even reboot the device, and then ask again

Thanks but that didn’t work. I deleted and re-created my contact information and verified it is “my card”, but it still does the same thing.

I have now learned that if I open maps and type in “home” it gets it right, but when speaking to Siri she pretty much consistently gets it wrong now.

Your point about being a generic location for the street is correct, if I am South of home it picks a spot on the street a few miles South of home and conversely if I am North it picks a spot on the street about a mile North.

Well, for a workaround, at least to take you home, you could create a Shortcut, then have Siri run the Shortcut, and just say for Siri to run the shortcut to your home. But, when it comes to other addresses, I have seen Siri struggle with longer numeric addresses (ex. 1025 N 24th St).
