Bootcamp Assistant on Introduction Screen Even Though Windows 10 is Installed

Hi all,

I've got a 2019 i9 Macbook Pro running sequoia 15.3.1 and Bootcamped with Windows 10 pro. I am trying to install the Windows support software but when accessing Bootcamp assistant (on MacOs) it opens to the introductory screen as if i didn't already have the drive partitioned and Windows installed and I do not have the option to download the Windows Support Software. I can access the Bootcamp control panel on windows but i don't seem to be able to change any Bootcamp settings from the MacOs side.

Apologies if i'm just being silly, but any help with this would be much appreciated. I've attached a screenshot below of the page i get from bootcamp assistant.

Thanks in advance lads.

A perplexing problem, to be sure.

To confirm your partition map, try running Disk Utility. If you indeed see an NTFS volume there, assume that all is well enough to try booting into Windows. If you don't, the volume might require a disk check. How we get there depends on Windows' current state of affairs.

  • IF THE NTFS VOLUME IS INTACT: use any available means to start Windows. A quick and dirty method is to hold Option (Alt) at startup, pick Windows, and hit Return or click the arrow below it to start. Log in as per your usual routine. Then, open an elevated Command Prompt and run "chkdsk c: /f". You'll be prompted to run the disk check at next boot; answer Y and hit Return. Close the terminal window.

Find the Boot Camp Control Panel near the clock & calendar. Make Windows your boot volume, then restart.

  • IF WINDOWS CANNOT START AND/OR THE VOLUME IS NOT INTACT: you'll have to use another Windows machine to make a bootable USB (Type C) drive and install or repair Windows by hand on your Mac. Boot from the Windows installer using the method above and click "Repair your computer". From the menu that appears: "Troubleshoot", "Advanced startup", "Command Prompt"; then run "chkdsk c: /f" as above. Restart when done.

Let us know if you would like further help. Meanwhile, back up/offload any important files and make preparations to redo Boot Camp as needed.
