Finalcut seems to have a bug that results in showing different gain values of its audio in clip gain and main meters

Why is it that Finalcut does not show the same value of audio gain in the clip as in the main meters? That is weird and should not be the case. In Logic, the gain of one channel will be the same in the main channel. And that’s the way it should be. All else is wrong. Is there any workaround this bug?

I believe clips are peak metering and the main meters are RMS. There is a Multimeter plugin that can show you the different metering methods. If you'd like the option to show other metering methods in the UI, suggest it to the FCP dev team Final Cut Pro->Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback...  or use this link https://www.apple.com/feedback/finalcutpro.html

The lowering a stereo pair by -3db doesn't result in lower volume. Audio is exponential, the more sources, the louder it gets exponentially, not linearly. So that statement is half true. Those two stereo sources, when measured together at the audio monitors, will be about the same volume.

If I have one person talking at an average of -6db, that's that. But add a second person talking at the same time, at the same -6db level, the result is a bit higher output volume than -6db.

Meters can reflect different values as Terry correctly points out. Also, is that measurement before or after the fader?
