Recurring issues with multiple iPhones, laptops, and iPads despite factory resets

I have been having the same issues with my last 3 iPhones, laptops (2) and iPads (2). I really believe that my phone is compromised and someone maybe has a clone of my phone. I really need some help. My passwords get changed on an almost daily basis (iCloud). I’m unable to stop sharing with the home app and fitness app, both of which I have never set up or opened. The interface of my phone changes and looks like the iPhone 6 did, with large text, numbers, and icons. It cannot be changed for n the settings. My apps also disappear and it returns after my phone resets itself, Face ID gets turned off. I have factory reset my phone and still the issues return. This is my 3rd iPhone in less than a year. When I set up my new phones, I do not transfer any apps or data from the old phone, nor do I use the same phone number or Apple ID.

Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? I’m ready to ditch the iPhone and go old school flip phone. No stress.

  • When you say you are unable to stop sharing with the Home app and Fitness app, is that what it is telling you in Safety Check? If that is the case, are you sure you have not removed those apps. It also affects the Notes, Calendar, and Health app if any of those have been deleted. That is one reason why Safety Check will display that message and that message is commonly seen.
  • For the large text and icons, there are a couple of things to check:
  1. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom, and make sure it is set to Default.
  2. Tap and hold anywhere on the Home Screen background until the apps jiggle. Tap Edit in the top corner, then tap Customize. Under Choose Icon Size, select Small.
  • Face ID cannot be turned off remotely. That is only something that can be done when someone has physical access to your device and knows the Passcode to open it. Change your Passcode.

Set a passcode on iPhone - Apple Support

  • If your Password is being changed, check the Trusted Phone number you have entered on your account. This is at  Settings > [your name] > Sign-In & Security > Two-Factor Authentication. After you have removed any unknown numbers and verified the numbers you have listed there are your Trusted Numbers, then change the password again.
  • Check if you have any other devices logged into your account at Settings > [name on top], and scroll to the bottom to view the devices. If there are any you do not recognize, they are currently logged into your account and you will need to tap to remove them and of course follow up by changing your Password.

"Recurring issues with multiple iPhones, laptops, and iPads despite factory resets"

-------

Secure your Info:

Using a new Apple ID (eMail Address for your Apple Account) may fix the log in issue.

If concerned for device access, then (A)verify your devices, then (B)secure your account:

.

A. Verify your Devices:

Verify that all devices are logged in to your account, by using this link: Check your Apple ID Device List to See where you're Signed in - Apple Support

then...

B. Modify your Credentials:

Having been stollen, someone lily has your credentials. So, by all means, modifying them.

I seriously think my phone is cloned.

As i said, that is totally impossible. If your iPhone was cloned it would be the only one out of 2 billion, so forget that as a possibility if you ever want to solve this problem. While someone could make a COPY of your phone, they would need to have both your phone and the other phone right next to each other and use the procedure for transferring content to a new phone. But they would need to know your Apple ID and password, and your phone’s passcode. And after it was done, it would just be a phone that had the same settings as yours, but would have no connection with your iPhone.

My Spectrum account was compromised also.

Well, that is easier if anyone knows your Spectrum account and password, especially if you didn’t have 2 factor authentication on the Spectrum account. But that still would not give them access to your iPhone or your Apple Account.

I’m sure my iPhones information was compromised also. My data usage went from 2 gb a month to 70 gb per month which is a substantial increase, yet spectrum seemed unconcerned. At one point I changed my router and modem, completely changed spectrum credentials for logging in, *** a new phone using a new number, Apple ID, and not transferring any data and nothing has changed. I don’t know what else to do.

All you need to do is to change your Apple ID password; no need for a new Apple ID, although you can create one if you want to. But if you do then all the purchases made with the current Apple ID will be voided.

If you do not have 2 factor authentication for your Apple ID and your Spectrum ID add that immediately.

Also, if you have ever received an email or text telling you to click a link and log in, that would have been a SCAM to steal your Apple ID. That is about the only way anyone could have accessed your account and information.

You have not setup Fitness or Home so there is no sharing data to gather. That is a common message you will see in Safety Check. The same message would appear if you had deleted either of the apps. I agree it should not appear when there is no data to gather, but it does.

For the Accounts that will be lost with the reset, check what Accounts you have in these locations:

  • Settings > Apps > Mail > Accounts
  • Settings > Apps > Calendar > Accounts
  • Settings > Apps > Reminders > Accounts
  • Settings > Apps > Contacts > Accounts
  • Settings > Apps > Notes > Accounts
  • Locate the Passwords app on your Home Screen or in the App Library and open it up and tap View to see the Passwords for those Accounts you will also lose.

It would be best to provide a screenshot of what you are seeing. Make sure there is no email or personal information showing.

My iPhone is experiencing similar behaviors. Both my Apple laptops are compromised too.

You said just your iPhone is showing logged into your account. What device were you using when checking at Settings > [name on top]? Are you using a different Apple Account for your iPads and Apple Laptops?

I don’t share with anyone but I had an iPad with the same Apple ID as my phone that got compromised. Same thing happening as iPhone and before I could sign out, I got locked out. Somehow the passcode to the iPad didn’t work and I took it to Apple to get reset. I then opened a different Apple account with new credentials, no data transferred to the iPad. After a few days, the same issues started. I factory reset the iPad again and again I got locked out and the password to the iPad wasn’t working. My iPhone is experiencing similar behaviors. Both my Apple laptops are compromised too.

The last time I reset my phone a pop up showed up saying “you will be signed out of this account and your 14 other devices.” I took a screenshot to show Apple support but the tech was not sure why it said that and didn’t pursue it.

Another Issue is while trying to verify my info on an app, my User agent shows up as

“Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 18_5 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/18.5 Mobile/15E148 Safari/604.1”

Yes I use safety check and it says it can’t stop sharing with home and fitness. But those apps have not been deleted.

I checked my display settings for the icons and it is on default and the other setting on small. It is of note that it happens when the interface seems to change over to an older iPhone.

I have checked the devices logged into my account but there is just my iPhone.

My iCloud settings also changes. I turn off all apps from backing up to iCloud. I periodically check to make sure all are off but the settings for game center, iPhone and FaceTime, and Siri gets turned on. Turning off the Game Center app will freeze my phone. This happens on a daily basis. I spend more time trying to keep my phone secure than being productive on it.

I have tried all of your suggestions but none so far has worked for long. I seriously think my phone is cloned. My Spectrum account was compromised also. I’m sure my iPhones information was compromised also. My data usage went from 2 gb a month to 70 gb per month which is a substantial increase, yet spectrum seemed unconcerned. At one point I changed my router and modem, completely changed spectrum credentials for logging in, got a new phone using a new number, Apple ID, and not transferring any data and nothing has changed. I don’t know what else to do.

The name on top is correct. There’s no other devices listed. I’ll enclose screenshot of the pop up when I reset my iPhone. It was 14 accounts and not devices.
