Migration Assistant: Transfer Music to External Drive
I have a new Mac mini m4 where I want to relocate my music library. My music library is under iTunes on a PC, and is close to 1TB in size. There are playlists galore and around two decades of work here. I finally want to try to migrate myself to a Mac, and this is my first phase.
I've been attempting to use Migration Assistant in hopes of not losing any of the music or the meta-data. To prep for this, I have a freshly formatted 2TB external drive happily attached to the mini. In addition, I've relocated my Mac user's Music library to a location on the external drive, and verified after a restart that my Music app is pointed to this external drive.
When I attempt to run Migration Assistant, it tells me there is not enough local space to store the data. It evidently is not seeing the external drive, and/or it's not following the Music library link to notice it's on an external drive with sufficient space.
Is there a way to get Migration Assistant to understand that the destination location for Music is sufficient? If not, is there some other way to move my music library such that all the metadata about the music is not lost in the process?
