delete individual files or directories from trash

I am a Windows PC user, but my current Windows computer has been on the fritz for 1 month and I’ve been using my wife’s Mac Air with Sequoia 15.

On Windows, Recycle Bin is equivalent to Trash on a Mac. It is very easy to delete selected files permanently from the Recycle Bin, based upon various features such as name (using wild cards), date deleted, size, etc.

Near as I can tell, the only way to delete an individual file on my wife’s Mac is to use the rm command in the terminal app. I can see how to delete a single file at a time, but that is incredibly tedious.

I found an article which tells how to remove multiple files and/or directories:

https://superuser.com/questions/1884878/why-am-i-unable-to-apply-r-with-rm-on-macos-sequoia-15-3-1-to-delete-files-on

This requires using complicated shell commands, which remind me of UNIX from my days as a retired software engineer.

Is there truly not a better and safer way?

You can select the items from the Trash, then right-click or Control-click on the highlighted selection and choose "Delete Immediately....". You will get a confirmation prompt to confirm "X files to delete".
