How can I free up space on my MacBook Air after hard drive is full?

My hard drive is full. How can I make more space? Tried to delete, or move files to cloud or external drive, but I can't.

For starters, have a look at > Free up storage space on Mac - Apple Support

If you are looking to free up space, you can move your Photos, Music, Movie Libraries to an external drive.

Moving, storing and accessing files or libraries to an external drive is fairly easy.

To be safe, that external drive should be backed up by a second external drive.
