Apple XDR display rotation

For years, I've never been able to rotate the display of my XDR monitor and instead have relied on a third party software to enable it.

In my workspace I use the XDR in portrait mode with a couple Benq's in landscape. When inside the display settings I can see the option to rotate the display for the Benq's but never have for the XDR. So my solution was to use a third party app to manage the display rotation. It's worked quite well until now where it seems the apps no longer work and Im back to trying to finding how to rotate the XDR natively within macOS.

I read there was a way to access the rotate ability by holding option when opening settings and displays and it supposedly giving the option, but it doesn't work. This issue has been across my 2023 Mac Pro and Mac Studio.

Am I missing something with macOS not allowing me to rotate my XDR?
