Using Bonjour with iMessages on 2013 Mac Using Mac OS Yosemite

I am trying to use iMessages on my 2013 Mac Air (Mac OS Yosemite); and for some reason it won't let me sign in to my Apples account, using my updated password, even when it send a 6-digit security code to my iPhone. Hmm. Help!
