Is Time Machine the current Backup Application?

I have an older MacBook Air maxed out at MacOS 10.15.7, Catalina, and I have purchased a new 15" MacBook Air. Is Time Machine a current back up application or has it been replaced by more recent MacOS versions?

Use Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner (or Super Duper) for the backups if you want to use a belt and suspenders. Personally I use CCC for two rotated backup SSDs.

Migration Assistant can restore from all those backups. Personally I restore manually only the stuff I really need but that requires a disciplined folder structure so I know where the important stuff is, not forgetting some items like Mail and some custom preferences in the hidden ~/Library folder, and keeping track of 3rd party app license codes.
