Apple Music Just Randomly Stops Allowing Me To Play/Stream Certain Songs

A few weeks ago, my Apple Music just stopped allowing me to stream certain songs. I could search for the songs, but every time I tried to play them. It just didn’t allowed them to play. Even when I added them to a queue, it still didn’t allow them to play. I had to completely un-sync then re-sync my iPhone from my iCloud to fix the issue – hours of my life I’ll never get back

Now we’re a few weeks later and the same issue is happening again with new/different songs. If I have to go through the same process again I’ll be as well switching my streaming service provider

iPhone 15, iOS 18

About 90% of the songs in my library that I’ve tried don’t play. There are thousands so I’ve not checked most of them. But this is a sample of new, old and iTunes match songs. A slightly lower frequency of songs in Apple Music itself exhibit the same problem. On iOS there’s no error. The song just doesn’t play. On Mac I’d you attempt to play or on iOS if you attempt to download you receive the following message: “The item cannot be downloaded. The item you have requested is not available for download” This issue is across all Apple devices which in my case are all up to date on the latest versions of MacOS, iPadOs or iOS.

I reached out to Apple and was escalated to a senior advisor who informed me that he’s seeing that this is a known issue that’s currently being investigated. There’s no known ETA. The advisor said there was no reason to try anything to make it work, e.g., turning sync off and then on, etc., because it was being investigated. Apparently creating the ticket doesn’t guarantee Apple will update me of the status of my reported problem.

I found it to be an odd coincidence that this all started yesterday after I activated a replacement iPhone 16 Pro Max under AppleCare. My thinking being that adding this new device to my account possibly resulted in this problem. But considering it’s across all devices, that seems less likely.

Also my 1 day old iPhone has overheated twice. The one it replaced did so probably 10 times.

If this is the infamous "song is unavailable in your region", that bit me yesterday. Was going out for a 5k run and noticed most of songs were suddenly greyed out

I just now fixed it, apparently. I hooked my iPhone 16 up to my laptop, made a backup of the phone, signed out of Media and Purchases and signed back in, restarted the phone with it plugged into my laptop.

Once the phone was back up, I opened Apple Music and I saw it syncing (notification at top of app) and after that it's been fine (so far)
