The answer is "it depends" — because you did not identify your specific Mac model. Depending on that information you may be able to update it to the current macOS release.

The last Macs capable of running High Sierra were 2017 or 2018 model years.
To identify your model Mac please read Find your Mac model name and serial number - Apple Support. Please do not post its serial number. We don't need to know that.
If you have any 32-bit games, or other 32-bit applications that would be hard to replace, you may want to keep it around as a secondary machine for running them. Catalina and later won't run 32-bit applications.
It is time to recycle it and replace it with a new Mac.
Scrap it. It's obsolete. Depending on the exact model, it's not capable of running a supported version of macOS any more and absolutely won't be capable of running one as of this fall.
