Having issues adding key words quickly after new Mac update(15.5 (24F74))

Every day I import 100-200 photos. I need to label them and use the "add a key word" section to make the labels. As some photos use the same label it's convenient to partially type int he key word and have it auto fill int he rest. Originally I could click on the photo, have the info tab on the side, click the keyword section, type int he key word, hit enter to lock it in, then hit the right arrow key to move onto the next photo leaving the curser in the same position. Now after hitting enter the curser stays in the info tab so in order to get to the next photo I have to manually click it making the new order of operations (click on the photo, click on the key word section, type in the key word, click on the next photo.) This has almost doubled the time it takes me to label these photos on an already tedious task. If anyone has Any input I would appreciate it.

The keyword shortcuts system that léonie suggests is very handy. I have about 20 that I use regularly right now (though I've had more)-- they are a single keystroke to add a keyword. I use Smart Albums to show only the images that haven't already been selected. And since keyword shortcuts can also be used to remove keywords, I also use a trick where I add a temporary keyword and then remove the ones that don't fit. It can be quite versatile.

They call it a Quick-Pick List in the link here:

Have you tried to click somewhere into the background of the photo, if the focus stays in the Info?

  • I am using the work-around to select all photos needing the same keyword together by holding down the ⌘key, before I open the Info. This way I can add the same keyword without having to step between photos.
  • My most commonly used keywords I have added to the Quick group in the Keyword Manager, so I can assign them with a single keystroke, without needing the Info panel at all. I just have to keep the Keyword Manager panel open. This is very convenient when stepping through the photos.

The issue is that I have to click back into the photo to change the focus from the info tab back to the photo. I take photo's of people's dogs, so there are 50 different dogs and roughly two photos of each one so there would be 50 different key words typed in. Some clients come back daily so the keywords are needed to fill in the details, but it's getting incredibly tedious having to click in and out every photo.
