My MacBook Pro early 2015 will no longer give me an option to Extend Display to any monitor or television. Mirror is unchecked but all it will do is mirror my screen. There is just no option at all to extend. I've never had an issue until now. Any help? I am running OS Catalina 10.15.7 Thanks

Hi- thanks for replying. I checked off everything in Mission Control and still not working. Some discussions I ready yesterday suggested maybe updating to latest operating system. But then some said they didn't have an issue with their extend display until they updated so I am not sure what this issue is, how to fix it or if I should update.
The Mac does not rely on Windows-like side-loaded "Drivers" which are actually packages of resolutions and settings for a specific display. Instead, it goes straight to the immutable source -- it asks the display itself.
To get a Mac display to become active, you need the Mac to query the display, and the display to answer with its name and capabilities. Otherwise, the display will not be shown as present, and no data will be sent to the display. "No signal detected" is generated by the DISPLAY, not by the Mac.
This query is only sent at certain times:
• at startup
• at wake from sleep — so momentarily sleeping and waking your Mac may work
• at insertion of the Mac-end of the display-cable, provided everything on that cable is ready-to-go
• hold the Option key while you click on the (Detect Display) button that will appear in Displays preferences (from another display)
so try doing some of those things and see if the display comes alive.
Yes, sorry, that's what I meant. Apparently, it did not fix the issue and I did all of the other suggestions you offered and unfortunately none of those fixed the issue. Still at a loss at what to do. I do appreciate your input.
does the External display appear as a display in
system preferences > Displays?
¿can you, in fact 'Mirror Displays' successfully?
the MacBook Pro 13-in built-in display is only 2560x1600. When you Mirror it, the external display and the Internal display will use the SAME compromise resolution, and operate in lock-step.
What make&model display, and what cables, adapters and Docks are being used to make the connection?
¿Do you use Mission Control?
if not turn all these settings OFF, especially
"Displays have separate Spaces"
or on Monterey or later:
I hope you meant that you have Un-checked, turned OFF, all this settings, especially "displays have separate spaces".
