Final Cut Pro X Exported Captions File is Damaged and Can't be Opened

I am trying to export a .srt file from Final Cut Pro X for upload to YouTube. I exported the captions as a .srt file. When I try to open the file in a text editor to inspect it, I get the following message: Name_of_File.srt is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the trash. Any idea what might be going on? There are no overlapping caption areas or any sort of damage to the movie project that I can tell. I can export the movie associated with the captions with no issues.

The file is fine. This is a "security" thing.

You can open the file from inside the text application.

This is because there is no application registered to open files with .srt extension, and it will happen to any text file whose extension is not associated with an app.
