Which app is putting files in my downloads folder

Hi

I have a m3 MacBook Air. Over the last week or so every time I go to my downloads folder I have loads of new folders labelled something like "5c" inside are files with long names and .file at the end. i've scanned for malware and nothing.

How can I find out what is downloading these files?

Uninstall whatever you used to do that. Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk.

A screenshot of the folders will be helpful. Also a screenshot of some of the filenames.

What version of macOS do you have on the MBAir and are you using iCloud with your Mac and an iPhone or iPad?
