Slow page loading on iPad Pro with 200GB free memory

Hello. My iPad has started running very slowly. Pages can take 5 minutes or more to load. I've tried all the suggested fixes (except factory reset, which I really don't want to do), but nothing works except restarting the iPad. This is obviously not practical, I can't restart my iPad every time I want to change page! I would be grateful for any suggestions, please be gentle as I am not very technical! Many thanks.

My iPad is an iPad Pro, running iOS 17.7.8, with remaining memory of over 200 GB.

Presumably you are using the Safari browser. If so, start by clearing all of Safari's cached/temporary data. This will only clear cached data - and will not impact anything else.

For iPadOS 17.7.x:

Settings > Safari > Clear History & Website Data

After clearing the cached data, perform a forced restart of your iPad:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
