Unlike the MacBook Pro, the MacBook Air has no fan, so if your intent is to play games, you should have chosen the Mac with a fan. Otherwise, the Air, even if on a hard surface, with no third-party covering, will heat up quite quickly when playing CPU/GPU intensive games. If the Mac gets too warm, there are built-in protections to initially slow the CPU and then shut the Mac off if it exceeds temperature maximums.

Computers have a finite amount of RAM and the most you can option for the M4 MacBook Air is 32 GB. With a 13-in screen, how many applications can you practically use with that screen size and when you run out of RAM, it will slow down as it is swapping to secondary storage. If you are using the Air in a sensible manner, you will not run out of RAM, or overheat it in the first place.
