Email and text issues after restoring iPhone 14 Pro from iCloud

Due to a passcode issue, I had to erase and restore my iPhone 14 Pro from the cloud. The data restored fine. However, I cannot make or receive either emails or messages. When I tried to send an email it immediately says message failed. Same with texting. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be the problem and how I can fix it? Thanks.

The ability to make or receive calls is a carrier issue. The same with SMS, but if you are trying to send iMessages, they are data, and if you are not connected to wi-fi, that also could have something to do with your cellular connection. Do you see that you are connected to cellular with bars showing in the upper right corner of the phone? See this support document for not being able to make or receive phone calls. As I said earlier, SMS is a carrier feature, iMessage is data, so you need to ensure that iMessage is activated. Check that in settings. You can go from there, and if you need more help, come back.

Thanks, Chris,

Much appreciated.

No, I don't have bars at the top right hand corner. Just the words SOS. WI-FI is on.

However, I have a second iPhone on this account, using the same hookups and settings, and the second phone does show bars and functions properly.

I didn't see any Messaging page with a toggle for on/off.
