Printing presenter notes with minimal slide shrinking

I'd like to export a presentation to a PDF, including my presenter notes. When I select the option to include the notes, the slides shrink dramatically on the page - despite the notes not requiring anywhere near the extra space, on any slide in the presentation. I'll guess the slide only takes about 15-20% of the page. Attached here is a partial screenshot (intentionally blurred due to internal content). The slide text ends up smaller than the notes in some cases - despite being easily readable when on screen. Most of the page space is wasted.

Printing 3-up makes the best use of the page but the slide is still much smaller than the notes area.

Is there any way to maximize the slide image size while including the notes?
