Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS on Late 2011 MacBookPro8,1 keyboard mapping for MacOS user

I am a longtime Mac OS user and a newbie to Linux. I successfully installed Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS on a late 2011 MacbookPro8,1. The trackpad and wifi work well. I would like to use my Mac OS keyboard shortcuts (Command C, Command V, Command Z, etc.) to cut and paste text (and others). Ubuntu installed the default Wayland session manager.

I would appreciate any guidance the community could provide in addressing this issue. Specificity in directions would be most helpful. Thank you.

Ubuntu 24.04.* LTS does not use Mac keyboard shortcuts as it is not based on BSD UNIX or even if you tell it your keyboard is Mac. Thus, you cannot use the macOS command-key shortcuts even if you had Ubuntu installed as a guest in a VM.

Apple does not support any Linux distro installed on native Apple hardware or otherwise.

Terminal

Copy is shift+control+C

Paste is shift+control+V

Nemo File Manager or FireFox 140.0.2

Copy is control+C

Paste is control+V

I am using the Cinnamon Desktop Environment on Ubuntu 24.04.2 in a Parallels Desktop Pro 20.4 guest:
