Using international student ID for U.S. education discount on Mac purchase

Hi! I’m an international student from Colombia, and I have a friend who will be traveling to the U.S. soon. I’d like to know if he can buy a Mac mini for me at an Apple Store using the educational discount, if he brings my student ID from my Colombian university.
