Just to provide a little clarity:

• It absolutely does NOT mean your device is using MDM if nothing happens when you tap on your Trust Store or Trust Asset Certificates in Settings.
• It takes very little research on the internet to determine that imei.org is not a reliable source for factual information. As with most sites, the purpose is income and they do that through many of their "sister" sites that claim to offer unlocking abilities. Many people have fallen victim to those sites where they have provided money for that offered service with no results. Of course they have "testimonials" on the site claiming great success, which should be a red flag.

I support your decision to purchase a new device, phone number, and create a new Apple Account. For some, that is the easiest and most direct way to start fresh. I would also recommend viewing the Personal Safety Guidelines here.

• The MDM company is looking for a new customer and telling you exactly what you want to hear. You absolutely do not need to add any MDM software to your device for protection. If you have MDM software installed on your device, it will show up at Settings > General > VPN & Device Management. The internet is full of scare tactics claiming you can have a hidden MDM, that is not true. You see reports like that from those who attempt to read log files and have no idea what they mean and also because these scare tactics make money. That will be from products sold (whether that is VPN, AntiVirus, Scanning Software), posts on Social Media where users gain clicks, shares and ad dollars, and even seen in blogs that provide sponsored content.
• The Apple employees in the retail shops are just people like you and me trained for specific tasks. If you need battery replaced or screen replaced, that is where you want to go and not only do they have the skills to do that, they also have the specialized tools to perform the job. That is a stark contrast between an Apple Engineer that is responsible for coding the OS who would have a much greater insight in the operations of the trusted certificates and the UI they created to view them. Unfortunately we cannot call those guys up or go and talk to them in an Apple Store.
• And even to go a step further with getting different answers from Apple Techs, you would even find the same to be true here. We all have different skill levels, experience, credited certifications, and educational degrees. We are not motivated by selling you any product and we are not paid where we have an agenda. The points you see on a user is simply when we have helped someone else and they felt the need to acknowledge it, but there is no requirement to do so. You will get opinions and when at all possible, we try to back those up with Apple Support Documentation for further help like I did with the Personal Safety User Guide.
