The trackpad in my MacBook Air M3 2024 is not working well. Probably it never did.
The mousepointer makes unspected moves and is in fact uncontrollable.
First I thought it had to do with updates in MacOS, but after several updates the problem still remains.
To work in a normal manner I always have to use my bluetooth mouse.
Does anybody recognize this problem and maybe has a solution?

A failing battery that swells can affect the trackpad. Things to check:
— Unexpected trackpad and/or keyboard behavior.
— The gap between the display and the deck is not even when the display is closed.
— The gap between the bottom plate and chassis is uneven in places.
— Some of the screws that hold the bottom plate have popped out.
— The trackpad surface is higher than the surrounding deck surface.
— The computer "rocks" a bit on a known flat surface†.
† — I find solid-surface and granite countertops very effective flat test surfaces.

Today I discovered the cause of the malfunction of the trackpad.
The problem only occurs when the macbook is charging. As soon as I pull the charging-cable out the trackpad functions normally again.
I don't think this is normal behavior. Nor do I think there's a solution.
The problem only occurred when charging the MacBook when we were traveling with the camper. Now that I am back home after two months, the problem has gone.
Ergo: the inverter in the camper that makes 230 volts from 12 volts is the culprit.
Problem solved!
If its trackpad never worked well, it may have been defective at the outset. You should be contacting Apple: Official Apple Support

I suppose I have to call Apple support for a solution.
