Header problem in Apple Pages 14.2 running on Sequoia

I've just added a new section to a long, multi-section document in Apple Pages: the header has appeared as a single field, and I can no longer edit the two left-hand fields in the headers of all the other sections in the document.

This looks like a glitch. I've tried closing and reopening Pages and I've tried restarting the computer, which has resolved occasional Pages glitches in the past.

This is related in some way to the Styles function. When I changed the Style of the page number, the header's three fields appeared and I was able to edit the left-hand field. I could then change the Style of the page number back to 'Header and Footer'. So I've found a workaround but this is a bug of some sort.
