Some PDF files with iCloud exclamation icons won’t open or download
So there's a folder on my desktop which contains a number of files. Many of them have the iCloud icon with an exclamation mark next to them. However, only some pdf files that have this indication won't open or download. How can I get these files back?
When I try to open the files it says:
"Couldn’t communicate with a helper application. Try your operation again. If that fails, quit and relaunch the application and try again." and when I try to duplicate it says:
"The operation can’t be completed because one or more required items can’t be found. (Error code -43)".
A while back I used Duplicate File Finder to remove a bunch of duplicates, for some reason my macbook was making duplicates of almost every file but with a long code as title so these files were hard to find and identify. Could this have something to do with it? But why are only certain pdf's misbehaving?
On my iCloud Drive it seems that specifically the files that I cannot open are not on the iCloud drive. I never upgraded my iCloud and ignored the out of storage message for years without any problem.
What can I do??
All help is much appreciated in advance!
