Recovering missing photos and videos during iCloud upload on Mac

hi, i recently uploaded files of 130-150 gb (i do not recall) but the file comprised of family photos and videos. I go and check today that the upload is complete, but the videos and some of the pictures are not present, meaning they have not been uploaded. I go check the original location on my mac, they are not there either, however, the space it took up on the computer has not decreased at all. I tried via assistance of chatGPT using the terminal to recover these files but it did not work. However, it did show me that they are stored and lost somewhere on the mac because my documents are 130 gb but when I ran a terminal search of the documents file it only came up to have 3 gb. i do not understand how to recover my photos. those photos are very important to me and the very reason I subscribed to a 2tb storage of cloud but ironically in the process of uploading I have lost them all.

Please help me in recovering these lost files.

thank you.
