How to stop Mac mini M1 beeping every 20 seconds and not shutting off?

my Mac Mini M1 2020 running OS 15.5 (24F74) beeps about every 20 seconds. It is annoying and I have been unable to shut it off using the Sound and Notifications settings. Can someone help me?

Disconnect all none essential external devices including any hubs and USB drives.

Leave the display, a USB keyboard and mouse if used connected to the M1 Mac mini.

Start the Mac mini up in Safe Mode as per > Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Then restart normally and start reconnecting your other external devices and drives one at a time.

Note and report what happens during each of those steps.
