Option 1: Recover Notes from "Recently Deleted" on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the Notes app.
  2. Tap the < Folders back button (top left) until you see all folders.
  3. Look for a folder called Recently Deleted.
  4. If your deleted notes are there:
    • Tap Edit (top right).
    • Select the notes you want to recover.
    • Tap Move To... and choose a different folder.

Notes remain here for 30 days before being permanently deleted.

Option 2: Recover Notes via iCloud.com

If "Notes" was enabled in iCloud:

  1. Go to iCloud.com on a computer or browser.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID.
  3. Click on Notes.
  4. Look for a Recently Deleted folder in the sidebar.
  5. Select notes and click Recover.

Option 3: Restore from an Earlier iCloud Backup (Last Resort)

⚠️ This replaces all current data on your phone with a past backup.
  1. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups.
  2. Check if there's a recent backup from before the deletion.
  3. If yes:
    • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Erase All Content and Settings.
    • After reset, during setup, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.

Only do this if you're sure the backup contains the lost notes and you're okay replacing recent changes.

Prevent This in the Future

  • Turn on Notes in iCloud:
    • Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Show All > Notes – make sure it’s toggled ON.
  • Regularly back up to iCloud or export important notes manually.
