Studio Display cable slightly compressed - potential fire hazard?
Hi all, an extremely naive question…
If the Studio Display power cable gets slightly pinched, could that represent a potential fire hazard?
Background:
When I first set up the monitor, I had given the cable enough clearance between desk and wall. But over time the desk got pushed closer to the wall. The cable wasn’t completely compressed -- it could move somewhat, but it was a snug fit. Knocking my desk would have likely caused compression/pinching.
There is some discolouration on the wall where the cable was rubbing. There are two markings suggesting room to move but a tight squeeze.
The desk is about 1.5 cm thick (0.6”). Not sharp. The cable wasn't positioned awkwardly and didn't travel at odd or severe angles, but perhaps how it was angled against the edge of the desk along with compression caused pinching.
Observations:
There isn’t obvious damage to the cable unless it’s inspected very carefully. When I look from a certain angle, there might be a slight indent where it contacted the desk but I can’t be sure it isn't my imagination. You can feel the indent (just barely) if you feel very carefully. Casual inspection of the cable wouldn’t reveal these details.
Can anyone comment on the durability of this cable?
Do I need to be concerned about this cable potentially becoming a fire hazard?
TLDR:
Slight cable compression/pinching. Potential fire hazard or non-issue?
Thanks everyone.
