Voice-activated Siri not working on iPhone

"Hey Siri" does not work for me. Just gives me a spinning wheel when asked a question. If I type the question, then it will work but the voice prompt will not. I've called support several times and they've run all kinds of tests but tell me I need to come to the nearest Apple Store which is an hour and a half away. All the diagnostics have been run. There is also a problem with text messages that I speak into. It gives me my work then in parenthesis (pronoun) etc. If I type the message, it will be correct and I can send the message. The microphone has been checked. I've done all the requested tests and resets in Settings and SIRI voice still does not work. Apple support was no help so I'm turning to the experts... you guys. Any suggestions?
