Safari being monitored by Rogers TV

I was using the Hotel network as I would be here for a couple of days and wanted to preserve my data. I was on my iPhone 15 while the Rogers TV set was on. All of a sudden, a message popped on TV stating that Safari was being monitored. 😳

What does that mean? Can a Rogers TV monitor what I am searching on Safari’s search engine on my iPhone? As a matter of security, I immediately turned off my iPhone, disconnected it from the Hotel’s server and reconnected it to the data on my iPhone.

Hello Vevette17, I would be glad to help you out with this. This may be as a result of the network having a firewall that monitors internet traffic and prevents unauthorized or abusive use of the network, using content filtering. This should not be worried about unless you are planning to input sensitive information like credit card info, SSN, banking info, etc.

I hope I was able to assist you, feel freerespond if you have any more questions!

Thank you, Ethan. I am never using my iPhone for banking or other sensitive information which would be of interest to anyone and I have very secure passwords on Safari. My internet at home is with Bell. Perhaps Rogers could detect it and was just not happy about it. :-)

My friend may have been watching YouTube on TV at that time - which was provided free of charge by the hotel. It may/may not have something to do with it.
