MacBook Pro the cursor moves but will not click

So I cannot sign in if it won’t click

Ensure you have a complete and current backup.


Batteries can fail, and swell, and one of the earlier symptoms of a battery that is swelling can be a trackpad malfunction.


This is far from a certainty, but is one possibility.


Sight down the front and side edges of the MacBook Pro, looking along all of the edges of the Mac for indications of any bowing or arcs or bending or swelling.
