Best ways to set up dual monitors on Mac Studio

Hi guys, I have a Mac Studio with two monitors. At present they are daisy chained together, and the image is an extension of the main display. Each time the Mac goes to sleep, upon awakening all my open apps are grouped on the right hand main screen and I have to move them to the left screen.

is there a setting that keeps the apps where I left them rather than keep putting them back each time?

Thank you very much.

your BenQ PD2730S display appears to be a

5K display with:

Connectivity

HDMI (v2.1)

1

DisplayPort (v1.4)

1

Thunderbolt 4 (PowerDelivery 90W, DisplayPort Alt Mode, Data)

1

Thunderbolt 4 out ( PowerDelivery 15W )

1

Daisy Chain Technology

Thunderbolt 3

ThunderBolt-4 supports data rates up to 40 G bits/sec. Your 5K display will use ALL of that, leaving no bandwidth for an additional display on the same cable..

But since this display supports HDMI 2.1, you may get slightly better results using a certified ULTRA-rated HDMI cable direct to the Mac's HDMI port. Up to 60 Hz refresh using 10 bits/color

If you use Thunderbolt or DisplayPort, standard timing limits refresh rates to 50 Hz for displayPort 1.4. Due to a timing anomaly, you might be able to achieve 85 Hz refresh at 10 bits/color using DisplayPort or Thunderbolt. Cable lengths would be limited to ONE meter for DisplayPort, and may be as short as 0.5 meters for ordinary passive ThunderBolt cables.

The issue you are seeing is that one of the displays is too slow to respond, and the Mac declares it "not available". When this occurs, the windows on the "not available" display are moved to the nearest edge of a working display to rescue them. Otherwise they would be completely in-accesible.

The Mac does not support daisy-chaining two displays on a cable unless the first device is a genuine Thunderbolt device (Dock or Display), and the port and cable are genuine ThunderBolt, not USB-C.

what make&model displays?

Your BenQ MA27O display appears to be a

4K display 10 bits/color capable with Connectivity

HDMI (v2.0)

2

USB C(PowerDelivery 90W, DisplayPort Alt Mode, Data)

1

HDMI 2.0 limits you to 4K at 60 Hz at 8 bits/color

USB-C limits you to 4K at 60 Hz at 10 bits/color. This is regardless of whether you choose a high-spec USB-C cable or a ThunderBolt cable, and length limited to ONE meter maximum.
